About Us

J.C. Small Boat Fibreglass & Repairs started in 2002 when a well known supply distributor in south west Nova Scotia wanted a cowl design. From then on, other products have been designed for southwest Nova Scotia's boatbuilding industry.

In 2003 we bought a 9 ft dinghy mold and have added a 14 to 16 ft mold V-bottom hull. Most recently we have added an 18' Cape Island style mold.

Our Services

We specialize in fibreglass molding products for the commercial boatbuilding industry as well as the building and repair of small boats (hull to finish). Most boat models are Transport Canada approved.

Our hulls are hand laid with fibreglass. As our business continues to grow, most of the components used in finishing the hulls are being made with 100% fibreglass materials. The result means less wood subject to rot and less water soakage adding
un-neccessary weight.

Our current models include:
• 9 ft Ducky Dinghy - used for a yacht tender or a row boat on the lake
• 14 ft - 16 ft Prowler V-bottom - used for ducking, lake fishing and pleasure.
• 15 ft, 16 ft, and 18 ft JC Cape Islander - used for ducking, pleasure and
    and an irish moss outboard motorboat.

Models

9 ft Ducky Dinghy

The 9 ft Ducky Dinghy is solid hand laid fibreglass with 2 removable fiberglass seats (with flotation). The bow seat is solid to the hull with flotation and the sternboard is also made with flotation material.

The hardware used is one 1/4 inch stainless steel U bolt in the bow, one pair of galvanized or bronze side mount davis oarlocks and one 1 1/4 inch bronze plug.

 

U molding is typically used for the gunwales but can also be trimmed with flexible molding.

The exterior and interior is usually the same color with a variety of colors to choose from.

This dinghy can also be lengthened and widened to the customers specifications.

The Ducky Dinghy is Transport Canada approved.

Prowler V-Bottom 14' - 16'

The V-bottom hulls are solid hand laid fibreglass, with flotation in bow and stern.

The standard model is 14 ft long by 6 ft wide with a floor. two stern seats, two middle seats attached to hull and an inset bow cuddy area.

Flexible molding is used for the gunwales.

 

The exterior and interior colours are usually different with a variety of colors to choose from.

The V-Bottom can be custom made to customers specification.

*note - These boats are made preferrably for a long shank motor 20".

J.C. Cape Islander

The J.C. Cape Islander 18' is the traditional N.S. Cape Islander style. These models are Transport Canada approved.

The Standard Model

The Standard Model is 15-16 ft long by 6 ft in the stern. It can be built with or without a floor. Both models come with two stern seats, two middle seats or one across midship and a 3' cuddy with hatch. Choice of Gunwale moulding white or black. Choice of exterior or interior colors with a variety of colors to choose from.

Price for the standard 16' model with self bailing floor is $4400.00 (CAN).
